Professor Peter Alexander, a former professor of English literature at the University of Glasgow, and Professor W. MacNeile Dixon were both honored by the late Professor John Cameron Bryce via the Bryce Bequest. In addition, the bequest supports any of the taught English literature programs for excellent MLitt students.

The University of Glasgow was founded in 1451 and is one of the oldest institutions in the United Kingdom. Gilmorehill, Garscube Estate, and Dumfries are the three campuses of the University of Glasgow.
