To be eligible for this £500 scholarship, students must apply to any undergraduate or postgraduate degree offered by the New College of the Humanities. The scholarship deadline is on July 31, 2022.

Overview Of New College Of The Humanities

Based in the heart of London, New College of the Humanities (NCH London) has earned a reputation for providing an excellent university experience, outperforming all Russell Group universities in overall student satisfaction in the UK’s National Student Survey for three years in a row (NSS 2019, 2020 and 2021).

Small by design, NCH London offers an exciting, collegiate community that delivers broad and academically rigorous degree programs designed to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge that organizations, employers, and society are increasingly seeking.

Following the Taught Degree Awarding Powers grant in February 2020, the College is expanding its portfolio by developing interdisciplinary degree programs that combine the humanities with exploring complementary scientific subjects.

The College, as part of Northeastern University’s global network, has a global perspective and receives broad support from a highly ranked US teaching and research institution while maintaining its academic independence as a UK higher education institution. Furthermore, with campuses in Boston, Charlotte, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Toronto, and Vancouver, Northeastern’s network provides NCH students and graduates with numerous opportunities, including the opportunity to study in the United States.

NCH students also have full access to Northeastern University’s Library’s digital resources, including hundreds of electronic journals, ebooks, and databases. The College also welcomes international students from all over the world who come to London to study a variety of Northeastern University programs, such as NU.in and GEP, which broadens students’ global perspectives and networking opportunities during their time at the College.

Their experienced and well-respected faculty members are enthusiastic about teaching and research. Small seminars, lectures (see below), small group tutorials, and (in some courses) one-on-one tutorials provide its students with unique opportunities to explore the curriculum in depth, with a high level of engagement with other students, tutors, and lecturers. Their courses are challenging and enriching, providing our students with additional personal development and enhanced skills.

Lectures at the College take various forms depending on desired learning outcomes. Some are concerned with the dissemination of ideas, while others are concerned with demonstrating skills and approaches, and still, others involve more active group participation (for example). Short talking head videos may also be included in each course’s virtual learning environment.

NCH provides an intensive learning experience as well as numerous opportunities for personal development. Students who attend College develop into confident, well-rounded, eloquent individuals capable of independent critical thought and intellectual debate, impressive research skills, a diverse range of interests and passions, and an understanding of how to apply their studies to the larger world.

Graduate programs at Accenture, the Civil Service Fast Stream, Clifford Chance, Deloitte, Grant Thornton, KPMG, M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy, PwC, Slaughter & May, TeachFirst, and Universal Music are among the College’s highly competitive graduate career destinations.

Those who choose to further their education typically pursue postgraduate studies at prestigious institutions such as the Universities of Cambridge, Chicago, Edinburgh, and Oxford, as well as the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) and University College London (UCL). Since their first graduating cohort, more than 80% of its undergraduates have received a first-class or upper second-class degree classification, with 35% of its 2019 graduating cohort receiving first-class honors and 89 percent receiving a 2.1 or higher (in externally moderated examinations).

While the College has yet to be included in traditional university league tables, it has outperformed the majority of UK institutions in terms of undergraduate results and student satisfaction ratings. According to the National Student Survey published in July 2019, the College’s student satisfaction scores are higher than those of every member of the prestigious Russell Group in 24 out of 27 questions.

100% of the College’s students said they were satisfied with their course, which is 11.5 percentage points higher than the average for Russell Group universities. The survey also discovered that 98 percent of NCH students feel challenged to do their best work, with NCH ranking first in the UK for quality of teaching in Economics and Philosophy. NCH has the most satisfied undergraduate students in history, law, philosophy, and politics in London. NCH also topped the London list for undergraduate Law and Politics teaching quality.
