Overview Of Durham College
Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology is situated in the Durham Region of Ontario, Canada. It has campuses in Oshawa and Whitby, as well as community employment services in Uxbridge, Port Hope, Port Perry, Beaverton, Oshawa, and Bowmanville. Durham College was founded in 1967 and has over 95,000 graduates.
Durham College (DC) has been training students to accomplish success for more than 50 years while establishing itself as one of Canada’s most creative post-secondary schools. Their nine academic institutions provide market-driven programs conducted by industry professionals in a variety of fields.
From exciting programs like music business management or artificial intelligence to province-leading programs like Electromechanical Engineering Technology or the Honors Bachelor of Healthcare Technology Management – Canada’s first degree of its kind – and Esport Business Management, DC is sure to have the right fit to help you reach your career goals.
By providing high-quality programs that help students acquire the necessary career-ready skills, all in a warm and lively atmosphere, DC is ensuring that the student experience is prioritized and redefining it.
While learning and studying are crucial, DC recognizes that the majority of college experiences are formed outside of the classroom. Life on campus plays a significant part in your college experience, whether winning the big game, learning to live on your own for the first time, or joining a campus organization with other like-minded folks. DC seeks to create an inclusive environment in which everyone feels welcome.
Rolling up your sleeves and getting to work is the finest approach to learning what it takes to excel in your chosen career! As a result, virtually all of DC’s 140+ full-time programs contain a component of experiential learning, such as apprenticeship, co-op, field placement, capstone project, applied research, and other hands-on activities. Experiential learning occurs when students learn by doing and reflecting on their experiences. Participating in an experiential learning opportunity will allow you to stretch and develop skills taught in the classroom, network and create industry connections, and receive real-world work experience that will help you stand out in a competitive employment market.
The Center for Collaborative Education on the Oshawa campus brings together local, Indigenous, and global communities and includes the Durham College Spa, Global Classroom, and interprofessional simulation and anatomy laboratories.
Several of the college’s applied research centers, including the AI Hub, Center for Cybersecurity Innovation, and Mixed Reality Capture Studio, are also on campus. Furthermore, the adaptable, fully automated, and industrial-grade Integrated Manufacturing Center is a model for new educational standards in advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, and engineering.
The new Skills Training Centre is being built at DC’s Whitby location. This facility will improve the college’s ability to give students hands-on training, access to simulators, and other types of teaching in shop laboratories for carpentry, HVAC, welding, elevating devices, crane operation, automotive, millwright, and plumbing, among others.
